Duke Commits to Ole Miss, SEC Bound!
By: Stephen Hargis
Walker Valley offensive lineman Jared Duke has committed to sign with Ole Miss.
Duke (6-foot-6, 325) chose the Rebels over another offer from Louisville. At Ole Miss’ summer lineman camp, Duke impressed coaches with his strength, agility and foot speed.
“He couldn’t pass up an offer to play in the Southeastern Conference,” Mustangs coach Ted Lockerby said. “One of the Ole Miss coaches told me they’re only going to sign four offensive linemen this year and they wanted really big bodies. Well, they got one now.
“They called a lot during the spring so I knew they were interested just because of his size. But when he went to their camp, I think he really impressed them.”

Walker Valley Expects Improvement in 2009

You could not have wished for a better day for a picnic, but wait, I was standing on the sideline of the Walker Valley High School football practice field. With a brisk breeze and the gorgeous skyline, it was hard to concentrate at the task at hand, which was taking a look at the Mustangs 2009 Spring Practice.
Of course, once you hear that remarkable sound of pads popping and coaches yelling instructions, I was brought back to earth. The Mustangs looked like a very organized team run by head coach Ted Lockerby. Lockerby, who played high school ball at Bradley Central and then collegiately at Tennessee Tech looks to build on last years 6-5 record. Considering the fact that last years was only the second winning season in WHS history, the road to success runs uphill.
With Coach Lockerby going from group to group, he seemed to be everywhere. The team was broken into three groups, lineman, receivers, and backs. A blaring horn would sound every ten minutes or so to signal that each group needed to begin another set of grueling drills. After getting the team started, Coach Lockerby was very gracious to come by and talk about his upcoming team. read more...here
